Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Friday that the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) has generated approximately 70 lakh jobs. Of these, about 20 lakh young people have completed six months in their first employment. The Prime Minister made these remarks during an incentive disbursal program for the scheme.
The PM-VBRY, which began on August 1, 2025, aims to create over 3.5 crore jobs within a two-year timeframe. The government has allocated a total outlay of Rs 99,446 crore for the initiative. This scheme supports both employees and employers to expand formal employment and strengthen social security coverage.
Approximately 10 lakh first-time employees received incentives for completing their initial six-month employment milestone. A sum exceeding Rs 2,000 crore was credited to their accounts. This financial support acknowledges their efforts and signifies the nation’s confidence in their future, according to Prime Minister Modi.
First-time employees are eligible for an incentive of up to Rs 15,000 under the PM-VBRY. This provides financial assistance as they enter the workforce. Employers who generate additional employment can receive incentives of up to Rs 3,000 per month per additional employee, encouraging sustained job growth.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) stated that around 1.92 crore beneficiaries are expected to be new entrants to the workforce. The scheme plays a role in advancing the vision of a Viksit Bharat by expanding formal employment and social security.
Prime Minister Modi expressed satisfaction with institutions that have provided employment to these young individuals.
