PM Modi Reviews Indian Development Projects Worth ₹30,000 Crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 52nd PRAGATI meeting, reviewing four major infrastructure projects valued at approximately ₹30,000 crore. He called for strict timelines, close inter-agency coordination, and the use of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan to ensure their timely completion. These Indian development projects span road, power, an industrial corridor, and a metro-rail scheme across four states.

The projects were examined to identify and remove bottlenecks, reduce delays that contribute to cost escalation, and deliver benefits for economic growth and connectivity. During the session at Seva Teerth, government officials presented progress reports and highlighted outstanding issues for these critical initiatives. PM Modi stated these works “will add momentum to economic growth, connectivity and industrial progress” and urged ministries and state governments to resolve pending issues with a mission-mode approach.

PM Modi stressed that project delays not only increase costs but also prevent people and industries from receiving timely benefits. He called for close monitoring at the highest levels to ensure on-time delivery. This emphasis aims to mitigate financial burdens and accelerate the positive impact of infrastructure investments.

The Prime Minister highlighted the ‘PM GatiShakti National Master Plan’ as central to efficient planning and execution. He directed that project details, utility information, infrastructure layers, clearances, and other field-level data be regularly and accurately updated on the platform. This ensures the portal reflects the latest ground reality, facilitating informed decision-making.

PM Modi stated the platform “must reflect the latest ground situation so that bottlenecks can be identified in advance, inter-agency coordination can be improved, and decisions can be taken on the basis of reliable, real-time data.” This approach aims for pre-emptive problem-solving and faster approvals, streamlining the development process.

Ministries and states were instructed to adopt mission-mode approaches for resolving pending clearances and coordination issues. Officials were told to strengthen project monitoring and immediately address lapses leading to time and cost overruns. The review focused on outcomes-oriented actions, including faster land acquisition, timely utility shifting, and efficient clearances, to ensure projects deliver their intended economic and social returns.

The ongoing review process indicates a sustained focus on accelerating infrastructure development. Future PRAGATI meetings will likely continue to track progress on these and other critical projects. The effectiveness of the ‘PM GatiShakti National Master Plan’ in reducing delays and cost overruns will be a key metric to watch.

Attention will remain on how quickly ministries and state governments can resolve inter-agency coordination challenges and clearance issues. The successful implementation of these projects is crucial for India’s economic growth and enhanced regional connectivity, with further updates expected on their progress.
